Our Green Teams and Partners are groups who work together to help reduce CO2 emissions. First, choose the type of Green Team or Partner you're associated with. Next, choose the team or partner you are a part of in order to make sure your pledges are attributed to the correct group.
Did you know that you can reduce your electrical bill by as much as 10% simply by unplugging unused appliances? Almost every device that is plugged in continues to consume electricity after it’s switched off. This is called standby or phantom power. And unplugging unused appliances won’t just save you money. It can reduce global CO2 emissions by 1% and in turn help Arctic wildlife, such as walrus and polar bears.
The Dirt on DVRs: Don’t want to miss that favorite show? Set the DVR. Not so fast! Did you know that on average, DVRs generate over 440 lbs of CO2 emissions/yr just on standby power? Many of you won’t be racing to unplug your DVR, but if you unplug other appliances you can help offset it. Try using a power strip with an on/off switch for some of your devices that may be difficult to unplug.
